Codex Minus

What it is

Codex Minus is a deliberately small macOS and Windows client for switching Codex providers, managing official and custom model catalogs, organizing local sessions, and diagnosing configuration conflicts. It is a trimmed fork of Codex++ Manager with renderer injection, launchers, marketplaces, and the local protocol proxy removed, and it ships signed in-app updates.

Why it exists

Provider switching should not take ownership of OAuth or unrelated Codex context. ChatGPT authentication remains with the official client, while Codex Minus snapshots the live mcp_servers, skills, and plugins tables before every provider write and grafts their original TOML content back afterward. Model catalogs are managed separately from provider discovery. The official baseline comes from the verified Codex CLI bundled with the target app, while each provider can add custom models or retain an external catalog without hiding official entries. The manager also separates active and archived sessions, uses Codex-native archive and restore operations, and keeps automatic maintenance opt-in with a preview before the first run.

Distribution

The current public release targets macOS (Apple Silicon) and Windows (x64 / arm64). Windows builds are produced in CI as NSIS -setup.exe installers. The macOS build uses ad-hoc signing and is not notarized, so first launch may require Open Anyway in macOS Privacy & Security; drag the app into Applications with Finder before launching so quarantine translocation cannot break in-app updates. Installed copies update themselves: a sidebar banner offers one-click update-and-restart, and the sidebar foot always shows the installed version with a manual update check and a graceful Restart Codex action. User settings remain under ~/.codex-session-delete/.

分发

当前公开版本面向 macOS（Apple Silicon）与 Windows（x86_64）。Windows 安装包（.msi 与 .exe）由 CI 构建。macOS 构建使用 ad-hoc 签名且尚未公证，首次启动可能需要在 macOS「隐私与安全性」中选择「仍要打开」。安装后的应用可自我更新：侧边栏横幅一键「更新并重启」，左下角常驻当前版本、手动检查更新和优雅的「重启 Codex」动作。用户设置保存在 ~/.codex-session-delete/。
